Where ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini are #1 on the App Store

Each of the three big AI assistants has a country where it sits at the top of the App Store. In the 30 days to 19 October 2026, ChatGPT was #1 in Nigeria's Top Free Apps chart on 29 days, Claude by Anthropic was #1 in France on 27 days and Google Gemini was #1 in Egypt on 22 days. In the United States none of them reached #1 in that time.

Nigeria: ChatGPT every day since 21 September

ChatGPT was #2 in Nigeria on 20 September and #1 on every day from 21 September to 19 October. In the United Kingdom it moved between #2 and #5 over the same 30 days and was #3 on 19 October.

France: Claude at #1 on 27 of 30 days

Claude was #1 in the French Top Free Apps chart on every day from 20 September to 12 October. It slipped to #2 on 13 October, was back at #1 from 14 to 17 October and has been #2 since 18 October. Being #1 in that chart means it was above every other free app in France on those days, ChatGPT included. Claude was already #1 in France on 8 October, when four AI assistants were in the US top 10.

Egypt: Gemini at #1 on 22 of 30 days

Gemini never ranked below #4 in Egypt in the 30 days, and its lowest position, #4, was on the first of them, 20 September. Its longest run at #1 was nine days, from 1 to 9 October, and it was #1 again on each of the last three days, 17 to 19 October.

In the US: ChatGPT holds #2 to #3, Claude climbs

ChatGPT was #2 or #3 on every one of the 30 days. On 19 October it was #3, behind Muse from Meta and Vinted. It also added 191,872 US ratings in the week to 19 October, more than any other app GameQuant follows in the US.

Claude climbed from #21 on 20 September to #5 on 15 and 16 October, which matches its best position of the last 90 days, and was #8 on 19 October. Gemini moved between #5 and #14 and was #9 on 19 October, one place below Claude.
